Privacy Berlin 2017 – Privacy in Ubiquitous Computing

Art der Veranstaltung:

Over the last years, the usage and market growth of wearables, virtual assistants, and smartphones has seen an exponential increase. Ubiquitous computing is no longer a vision of the future: it has  become reality. New applications of ubiquitous computing technologies and devices enable for example new functionalities of e-health management. Users can track their physical and mental health in order to track diseases or to optimize health related behavior, fitness and well-being. At the same time, the collected data is very sensitive and may allow technology and application providers to infer finegrained information on user behavior and habits. In this 5th edition of the privacy workshop, Privacy Berlin 2017, we aim at gathering privacy and security experts and practitioners from fields such as technology, psychology, sociology, healthcare, and legislation to discuss privacy related issues and opportunities in ubiquitous computing. With this fifth edition of the workshop, we intend to follow the past years’ tradition, providing a forum for networking and stimulating rich discussions. To further promote the possibility for this, the workshop also includes a social event in the evening of November 10, during which the discussion can continue more informally.
