The Mercator Climate Lecture 2016 with Prof. Jeffrey D. Sachs and Prof. Dr. Ottmar Edenhofer at TU Berlin
The world can only tackle climate change und poverty together. Therefore, the world needs a new vision, „which means combining economic development, social inclusion and environmental sustainability,“ says Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. At the Mercator Climate Lecture 2016 he will share his vision on how deep decarbonization and encompassing sustainability can be achieved and will elaborate on the implications for our world in the year 2050.

Sachs´ keynote will be followed by a discussion with Ottmar Edenhofer, Professor for Economics of Climate Change at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin), Deputy Director and Chief Economist of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and Director of Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC).

The Mercator Climate Lecture is a joint event of PIK, Stiftung Mercator, and TU Berlin. It seeks to offer new insights into and inform public discourse on the complicated and dynamic interaction between climate change and such international political priorities as sustainable development, economic growth, and social equality.
