Essential-Only Presence at TU Berlin to Begin 20 March 2020 - Press release

No research, teaching, or administrative operations until further notice/ “The most extraordinary situation in the modern history of TU Berlin”

Technische Universität Berlin will transition to essential-only presence at the close of the work day on 20 March 2020. The Crisis Committee, established by the TU Berlin president on 2 February 2020, has prepared a number of measures to enable this step to be taken.

Letter from the Crisis Committee, 18 March 2020 – University closed to the public/Student cafés must close

Effective immediately, all TU Berlin buildings are closed to the public. This decision is binding and is in effect until further notice. Security personnel will be patrolling the buildings. Should you still have any meetings scheduled with non-TU Berlin members, please cancel these immediately. We ask that you make use of video or telephone conferencing instead.

All student cafés are to close immediately and cease all operations until further notice.

We will provide further information on Thursday, 19 March 2020.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Members of TU Berlin,

The Senate Chancellery for Science and Research has concluded new measures for Berlin’s universities. These new measures are detailed below.

The Crisis Committee will publish detailed information about TU Berlin’s own regulations on Monday, 16 March 2020.

Exams scheduled for the upcoming week will be held. The Examination Office is providing information about current developments and changes. We will continue to provide up-to-date information about further steps as time passes.

We would like to remind you of the TU Berlin regulations for parents who are affected by the closure of childcare facilities and schools.

Please inform yourself regularly about current developments on our overview page about the novel coronavirus or on the TU Berlin homepage. There you can find information for students as well as specific information for different organizational units and departments at TU Berlin.

Please help us minimize the spread of the virus!

11 March: Immediate Measures for Berlin Scientific and Academic Institutions to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, 
Dear Members of TU Berlin,

In light of the situation resulting from the spread of the coronavirus, we as a university are obliged to respond responsibly, prudently, and with consideration for the future. Our aims are to stem the spread of the virus, gain time, and adjust our actions accordingly.

On 11 March 2020, the Senate Chancellery for Science and Research adopted immediate measures in agreement with the state universities in the State of Berlin and on the advice of  health experts at Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

These immediate measures and additional TU Berlin-specific measures are mandatory for all members of TU Berlin and are effective immediately until further notice.

Immediate cancellation of all events, closure of libraries, start of the summer semester postponed until 20 April
