A Conversation with Google's CEO Sundar Pichai

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is omnipresent nowadays: Your smartphone suggests the quickest route to university and before elections, algorithms calculate which political party best suits you. AI’s influence is not only rapidly growing but is doing so exponentially.

On 22 January 2019, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai shared his vision of fostering a responsible approach to innovation in the field of AI with 1,200 students of Technische Universität Berlin. Pichai and Professor Volker Markl, chair of the University’s Database Systems and Information Management Group, engaged in a conversation on the following questions: What direction is AI research taking? What does this mean for society? Will AI replace, shift, or jumpstart jobs? What role do large companies play in AI’s further development?
